> F/a Questions About Getting Started In Hare Scrambles
Posted by Mike Soudas - 02-12-08 22:38 - 0 comments
1. How much does it cost to race the ECEA Hare Scrambles?
Yearly Application Fee for a Rider Number is $20, $21 (if done online)
DOWNLOAD FORMS here
Day Rider's with another series Transponder will be charged $5 for reflashing.
Day Rider's without a Transponder can rent one for $30 with a $20 refund when returned that day.
Race Fee's vary by club. Expect $35-40 for Adult, $20-$30 for youth/PeeWee, Gate Fees and/or Camping can be $5-$10
AMA Sign Up $39. Local District Series Memberships are available (fee's Vary).

2. Can I sign up for a Rider's Number online?
You can for Yearly Series Number, Day riders must go to event sign up.
ADULT ONLINE APPLICATION YOUTH ONLINE APPLICATION

3. Can I use another series Transponder?
Yes and No
If you have the Black Cylinder Style Transponder then you have a chance it will work. It must be the programmable style (Read/White). Double check at sign up. GNCC and some MX Series Transponders will not work.

4. Is there a charge to re program the transponder?
There is a $5 fee for a non ECEA HS Series rider. If you have paid for the yearly number then there is no charge.
The $5 fee is for anyone who has not paid the $20 for an ECEA Harescramble membership.

5. How long will the transponder last ?
With proper care it should last for years. It is not indestructible but durable.

6. What Happens if I loose my transponder?
If it is lost during the race, yell your number to the backup person or scorekeeper at the scoring lanes. With the proper number identification on the bike it should be easy for the back up person to get your number and enter your position in the event.
You will then be responsible to purchase another unit from scoring. Replacement Transponders are $15

7. What is Tech Inspection all about ?
Each Club will conduct a Tech Inspection.
Tech will have a Transponder reader/display so the rider can check their transponder read- Their race Number is displayed.
A Sound check is to be done by the club per AMA/ECEA rules.
Rider/Bike Number Identification (Number Plates) will be strictly enforced.
The Rider is responsible for being scored.
Proper placement of the Transponder is the riders responsibility.
The Rider must have the proper number plates and background color on the bike. In the event that the rider cannot be identified from the bike's numbers, the rider may loose the lap or face a DSQ.

8. How do you mount the Transponder?
the best place to mount the transponder is to your chest protector with tyraps (tyrap in a cross pattern and finish with racer tape)
You can mount the transponder to the front fender or behind the number plate.
the Transponder must NOT touch any metal on the machine.
It must be mounted Horizontal.

9. Do I have to stop when going through the scoring lanes?
No, But you must SLOW DOWN- Slow Way Down..
Crashing into the Antenna or another rider at scoring is grounds for a DSQ, no exceptions. Race on the track not in the scoring lanes.
There will be two lanes and 2 displays.
The Displays will show your rider number and your place on one line then display a secound line (1sec delay) with your seconds behind.
Details on which lane the rider will take is going to be announced at the event.

10. When Can I sign up for the Event, Is there Online Pre Entry?
Currenty there is no Online Pre Entry but their are plans for the future.
You can sign up at the event. Sign up will be open for rider registration in the order of race day events starting with the PeeWee riders registering first, then Youth, then the Main event.
Registration will close 30 minutes before the start of the event.

11. I am 16 and ride in the Adult classes, which application do I use for a rider number ?
The OnLine and Down Load Applications specify 18 years old for the application.
The best way to do this is fill out the Adult Application either online or by download. You should then download the Minor release form here: MINOR FORM and the Sportsmen Pledge here: PLEDGE then mail those in or drop them off at scoring/sign up (Lisa) .

12. What if I Loose my AMA Card or forget it at home?
If you do not have an AMA Card present at the event You Will Be Responsible to Purchase Another Membership before you can sign up for the event. NO EXCEPTIONS. The AMA will send you an new card and tack on another year to your existing membership.

13. Can my son ride the youth class in the am and then ride the Main ?
Yes, as long as the rider meets the current rules.
The rider will need to register for the Adult series and purchase another number for the class he wishes to ride. Another transponder will be issued or the rider can have his youth Transponder re-Flashed.

Hey: This years Pine Barrens Adventure Ride has been changed to a Two Day Event. We have a great event planned, it's shorter, but more fun. More Dirt and Less street.

The Event is also limited to machines over 500cc's. We are trying to provide an event strickly for big bikes, there are over 40 events in the ECEA alone for the"minibikes". rolleyes.gif

The Entry form and new info is on the PB500 website

An update on this years Moonshine Enduro.

Our section heads and members have worked relentlessly to provide an awesome course. There are two entirely new sections and every other section has been extensively revised. Thanks to our president, Big Daddy, we even got back some old ground we lost 10 years ago.

Course description:
2 completely different loops with half way gas back at the start.

Loop 1 is 31 ground miles with a gas available away at 13 ground miles. 4 points taking sections between 3 and 5.4 miles long. The first 2 sections are the most challenging. We have done our best to tone them down, but the terrain is a little rocky.

Loop 2 is 32 ground miles with a gas available away at 12 ground miles. 3 points taking sections between 3 and 6 miles long. If you don't love riding this loop you need to list your bike on the classifieds section of this web site.

All sections are followed by ample resets to get everyone back on time. Both gas availables away are accessible to pit crews and a gas truck will be provided. The same truck services both gas availables.

Spaghetti dinner Saturday night and food all day Sunday. Plenty of camping.
Blow the foam off a frosty cold one while results are quickly posted at the Fire Hall!

Sweigart/Stoner riding school Saturday at 1:00 pm. Open to pre-entries only. Class is filling up, so get those entries in!

$5.00 off T shirt coupon with pre-entries

Leave the GPS at home, and come on up and enjoy all the work our club has done. You won't regret it!

Drawing date is September 5, so there is still time to get those pre-entries in. Entry available on this site or at http://www.vftr.org.
